Hello Hello! Did everyone have a great Labor Day weekend? Hard to believe fall is here, but there are a few trees on my street already showing evidence of this. (Foliage in VT= my fav time of year.)
Aside from the stunning foliage display, fall is synonymous with apple picking in VT. This is a tradition that I absolutely love, and have since I was a child. I can smell the cider donuts just thinking back to the Hick’s Orchard days of my youth
What’s not to love about fresh air, beautiful scenery, and yummy apples (did I mention the cider donuts)? The best part is, even the littlest of tiny tots can “participate” in this activity. I found this awesome website that gives you a rundown of every apple orchard in Vermont, what varieties they offer, what facilities, they have, etc. If you are looking for an orchard to hit up, make sure you check out Vermont Apples.
Just to make things a tad more interesting, the Vermont Department of Tourism is bringing back Apples to iPods again this year. While your out picking apples (in any of the 19 participating orchards), keep your eyes peeled for the coveted wooden apple. If you find it, you win an iPod from Small Dog Electronics….how cool is that?!?! For a list of participating orchards and rules, click here.
Where is your favorite spot for apple picking? We’d love to hear your orchard reviews and recommendations!
Have fun!

We are actually considering hitting up Shelburne Orchards this weekend. We usually go late September but this is our only free weekend for awhile. Anyone go this early in the season? I’m salivating thinking about all the yummy applesauce to be made. House smells glorious for days! -B
