Holy Shnikes! I can’t believe summer is coming to an end. This weekend, the college students will start to trickle back into town, as UVM classes start next Monday (oooh!! The memories of move-in weekend!). If you’re anywhere near downtown this weekend, you’llĀ probably notice an over-abundance of out-of-state plates, traffic jams, tapestries, and skateboards.
As sad as I am to see the summer wind down, part of me is a tad ready for the inevitable slow-down that comes with fall (and red wine season, of course). While we have had an AMAZING summer, these last couple of months have left me near exhaustion. Every day brings a new and different party/BBQ/getaway/outing/festival, etc. and being as how summer is so short here, you (or at least, I) feel compelled to say YES! to every last event. There is almost this secret pressure to do everything- which only increases with having a kid. I don’t want little Ben to miss a single experience…I think we have crammed 10 months of activities into 8 short weeks.
So, we are going to try to savor these last few days of summer…knowing that we are nearing the finish line on what has a been an unforgettable summer. For those of you with school-aged kids- I hope you are relishing these last days with the little ones. I’m sure I’ll be complaining soon enough that the days are too short and the winter seems never-ending…that’s just part of the fun of living in Vermont
Anyone else ready for summer to wind down…or is everyone cursing me for saying this?!
BTW- how cute are these Back-to-School cupcakes?
